Fox Terrier-cycle

Question
How old usually is a fox terrier when they stop going in heat.  Mine is around 11, almost 12 and doesn't really bleed any more but apparently is still going in heat.  We now have a male dog who right now follows her every where.  So far I've kept them apart...thank goodness.

Answer

Dogs do not menopause like humans do, though her cycles may become less frequent.

Obviously at her age it is essential to make sure she does not get pregnant.... I would recommend neutering the male. He will live longer and be healthier, and you won't have to worry about your female.  Takes care of all of the issues at once !

Good luck
