Question
i have a 4 month old cream toy poodle with apricot on the ears and feet. when i bathe her and use a blow dryer on her then her hair is straight. even if i let her dry naturally her hair is still pretty straight. she looks really cute with straight hair. i have been told that if i don't have her puppy hair clipped her hair won't get  curly. my question is if i get her puppy hair clipped and her hair gets curly then can i blow dry her hair straight if i decide i prefer it straight?

Answer
First cutting the hair has nothing to do with the curl.  A poodles hair is not mature until 2 years of age so it may take a while for it to get curly.  I have had a couple that took a year and a half to get curly.  Second when you see a dog in show you see a dog that has been blown dried straight.  However you do not want your poodle to have straight hair.  The curlier the better the quality of the coat.  Even when blown dry straight.  Once your poodle has a nice curly coat and its dried straight you will notice that it will hold its shape and its cut much better than the straight puppy coat did.  You will be amazed at the difference and you will still really enjoy the hair.
