Stigmas

Question
I am interested in getting another dog and I like pit bulls but I'm scared to get one. I know the stigmas about pit bulls are wrong and pit bulls are no more aggressive than the next dog, but I'm scared of the stigmas themselves. I don't want to be scared to take my dog for a walk because people call my dog aggressive if he barks at something or for just pulling on the lead, I can't afford a law-suit or the immotional drain of losing my dog because some jerk called him aggressive. My question is if this sort of thing happeneds alot? I live in a town where a pomaranian call bite without being labled aggresive but my spinone is aggresive for chasing (with wagging tails) the neighbors snarling and snapping cockapoo up and down the fence every so-often (thank god for that fence, my dogs would be covered in bits from that horrible mutt without it!)

Answer
hi, i do understand you're scared of stigmas..., first FORGET WHAT PEOPLE SAY OR WHAT PEOPLE WOULD CALL YOUR DOG AGGRESSIVE, AS LONG YOUR DOG IS ON THE LEASH, THE LAW IS ON YOUR SIDE, JUST BE SURE YOUR PIT IS NOT PEOPLE AGGRESSIVE, BEING DOG AGGRESSIVE IT'S O.K. AS LONG YOU CAN CONTROL HIM( OR HER). there's another aspect of aggressivenes, depend of your dog bloodline, raise... remember, pit bull is a fighting dog, so he would fight anyone( read- another dog)in a conflict situation, or many times without reason, they like to fight( again-another dog, no people, no acceptations, please)and they would win the fight against any other breed( you need to be very carefull about handling,  caring and knowledge is necessary in this case, if fight happens, could be shocking for you and you could lose control, EASY!!!)JUST, REMEMBER, KEEP YOUR DOG ON THE LEASH AT ALL TIME, AND IN CASE OF ACCIDENT( YOU HAVE TO HAVE YOUR DOG UNDER CONTROL AND TO BE READY TO SEPARATE HIM WITH A BREAKSTICK), the law is on your side and nothing to worry about law-suit, you didn't break the law!!!! pit bulls are not people aggressive dogs, but they're dog aggressive( not all, like i said, depend about genetically predisposition and a part your raise), so, don't worry about neighbors, keep your dog on the leash, fenced yard and under control at all time, THIS IS THE LAW, not what breed you chose to keep( poodle or pit bull)and you should be fine!!. feel free to ask for more help, as i 'll be happy to help in any way  and  any doubt to keep legendary apbt in best possible condition, without worrying about neighbors( you have to educate yourself, before taking apbt, they're kind of responsibility and much more BIG PLEASURE TO OWN !!)sincerely
