Question
my 4 months pit Gucci, sometimes steals raw potatoes & starts to eat it or plays with it. isn't it dangerous for him to eat raw potato? what about baked or fried ones? i was told no macaronis at all.
i have eating problem with him. he seems so picki. he eats smth today, next day same food- no way.
strange behavior.
what about pork. is it o.k. for them?

Answer
While I have heard that dogs should not have potato peels or green-looking potatoes, I have never heard that they cannot have raw potatoes. I don't think baked ones would be a problem as long as it is just the potato (and no skin) but I would avoid fried potatoes. People shouldn't eat fried potatoes because of all the grease/fat/etc...If you shouldn't eat it, your dog shouldn't eat it, either.

Pastas are okay, but ideally should be whole-grain.

From what I understand about feeding dogs pork- It is okay to feed a dog pork as long as you take the proper precautions against trichinosis (caused by an intestinal round worm found in undercooked and raw pork). Any pork you feed your dog should be frozen for several weeks ahead of time (to kill any parasites that may be present) and then the meat should be cooked really well before you feed it to your dog.
