Question
my American pit of 9 yrs. old has garbage breath, for years now and she refuses to allow me to brush her teeth. what do i do.

Answer
Lisa-

I would say that it may be worth a trip to the vet to have your dog's mouth looked at. If her bad breath has been a persistent problem for a prolonged period of time, there may be more going on than just a simple case of "dog breath"- dogs get gum disease and can suffer tooth decay just like humans.

Call your vet's office, tell them your concerns, and set up an appointment. They can look at your dog's mouth and brush her teeth for you while you are there. They may charge you for the extra service, but it would be worth it, I'm sure. At least this way you have the opportunity to find out for sure whether it is just a lack of brushing that is causing her bad breath, or maybe some other problem that needs attention.
