Question
one of my friends want to give me one of the female pits his dog had..but i dont
know how long should i wait before taking her away from her mother..can you
please help me?? thanks

Answer
Newborn pups should be properly and fully weaned from their mother beginning at 5 weeks of age. Then they should be introduced to puppy food that has been fully soaked in water and mashed up so it is easier to eat. This is just a supplement until they are fully weaned. The puppies should still be on their mother's milk for 2 more weeks, until they are eating puppy food full-time.

Puppies should not be taken home until they are 8 weeks old (2 months).  This ensures that she is on puppy food, by that time she can eat it hard. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.
