Questionmy 2 yr old male pit has been experiencing sporadic outbreaks of large, welt-like hives/bumps all over his body. It's happened 3 times, including today. He had a bad reaction to Frontline, a worse reaction to Advantix, and it's been a very bad flea season on Cape Cod this year. I have used flea powder recently and have had no problems with it. I have also been applying tea tree oil to his skin.
Today he was fine when I left the house. At 3:00 pm when I got home he had these hives again, head to toe. He was inside while I was gone. I gave him one Benedryl tablet at 4 pm, and another at 11 pm.
I want to take him to the vet but have a feeling it will be a wasted trip.
