Question
i just got a baby pit but don't know how to take care of it.

Answer
First of all, s/he needs to go to the vet.  Puppies get antibodies from their mother, but they fade as some where between 6-14 weeks, so s/he is going to need vaccinations.  Also, most puppies have intestinal parasites so s/he will need to be dewormed - your vet will be able to tell you what, if any parasites your puppy has, as well as give you medication for it.  You will want to feed him/her puppy food - I would recommend a large puppy formula.  When it comes to food, you get what you pay for.  Generally speaking, the more expensive the food, the better it is.  But most of what is on the market works very well.  Depending on your puppies age, you will want to feed him/her two to three times daily. (Younger puppies need to eat more often).  I would also suggest getting a crate for your puppy so when you are not there, s/he cannot get into anything.  Training classes are also recommended, especially if you have never had a dog before.  Petsmart generally has an excellent puppy training class.   You will also need to make sure you are taking your puppy outside regularly to use the bathroom.  This is a rough guide, but you can generally figure your puppy can hold it one hour for every month they have aged.  If s/he is two months old, you should take him/her outside every 2-4 hours.  Make sure you do it on a regular basis so your puppy knows s/he can count on you to take them out.  This is the best way to get the house trained.  If you do it sporadically, they will not think they can count on you so will go whenever they need to.  There are many other tips that I can give you, so if you think of anything specific, don't hesitate to ask.  Congratulations on your new puppy!
