Question

Rocky
I have a 6 year old red nose American Pit bull, Rocky.  About 2 weeks age Rocky had his first seizure.  He had 2 in the same day, and the vet said it was idiopathic epilepsy and put him on Phenobarbital.  I personally was wondering if a change is his diet might help him with this disorder.  I don't want to keep him on meds for the rest of his life and was told by may people that a change in his food will help.  I am currently feed his Pedigree, any suggestions?

Answer
I am not sure what diets help specifically with seizures, I am not a vet, but I've heard that grain-free or hypoallergenic diets can help, by elimination trials.  However, Pedigree is not a quality food, it's full of corn and by-products.  Look into holistic foods or a natural raw diet.  You can see dog food ratings on www.dogfoodanalysis.com That website author leans toward grain-free foods.
