Question
I am in 7th grade and am doing research for my experiment and was wondering if you could answer 2 extremely simple questions. the 1st of which is, can dogs be conditioned to the sound of a bell? + do black labs get distracted easily? For my bibliography I will need to know your real name. Please HELP ME! The deadline is getting closer and closer, and no one has answered my questions. My experiment procedure is to ring a bell, call my dog make her sit then if she does i will give her a treat i will have her do it in the yard and on the beach. Then eventually i will quiz her.

Answer
There is no way I will ever give out my real name on the net.

Have you done much research?  On of the most famous behavioral experiments is Pavlov conditioning dogs to salivate at the sound of a bell.  Your experiment should easily work.

As for the distractibility of a black Lab, that varies widely from one black Lab to another.  Some poorly bred, poorly trained black Labs are very distractible.  On the other hand, many of them work as service dogs staying on task in very difficult circumstances.
