Question
Gday mate.
Our lab who is a 6 month old female sits with a very wide stance(back legs) on slippery floors. Is this bad for her? We are just worried as we know labs are prone to hip problems.

We keep our puppies on a hardwood floor, and none of them have had bad hips.  While genetics is the biggest factor, Too much and too rich of a diet can cause problems too.  If she is on a puppy chow, switch to an adult chow and keep her lean.  Limit running and jumping too.  

Your dog definitely should be narrower at the waist than the hips and chest.
You should be able to easily feel the ribs, but not see them.  Each dog is
different.  Standard recommendations are a good place to start, but each dog
