sprains and strains

Apart from rest,is there anything else I should be doing to aid my dogs recovery from a sprained hind leg? Thanks.

Answer
A 325 mg buffered aspirin tablet every 8 hours would reduce the pain.  Never give a dog any other over the counter pain remedy, they kill.  The aspirin could also interfere with the needed rest.

A vet could prescribe or inject an anti inflammatory that would speed healing.
