Almost 2 yr. old Male Lab...breed vs. neuter?

my golden lab will be 2 yrs. old in December. He is a beautiful boy & in great health! I he is such a beautiful dog, strong, health & great temperament I want to really want to breed him at least once before neutering him, but my husband just wants to neuter him and get it over with. What is your opinion??

Well look at it this way? will you be acomplishing anything By breeding him? is he papered/registered? a show dog? a great gundog? excel in agility? do you want a puppy?  if the answer to msot of the above is no...why bother breeding...making dogs that are unwanted....if both parents aren't registerd or at lest have peddigree papers then theres no reason to breed. Breeding vs neutering makes little difference in the dog but the sooner you neuter the sooner you will nolonger have a dominating sometimes agressive dog that is likely to cock his leg about anywhere.
