My lab often makes coughing noises

Question
My soon to be 10 yr. old yellow lab Dusty, who was diagnosed with diabetes just about a year ago (for which she gets insulin 2x daily), makes these coughing noises (like a cat does when they are coughing up a hair ball).  I wonder if it's her food, possibly a tumor in her lower ear growing back and causing blockage, or possibly a heart problem.  My husband doesn't want to take her back to our vet.  I don't know if he suspects the worst or not.  Please let me know a.s.a.p. what, if anything, you think it sounds like.  Thank you.

Answer
   Hi Dawna,
Your husband needs to do what is best for your dog. If you don't take her to the vet you won't know for sure and it might get worse. This could be serious, or just something minor that some medication can cure. God bless you...the best of luck and many, many prayers, Cassie.
