Question
HELP!
I have a Jack russell that I took from a man who had no time for her, he had rescued her from someone who was planning to shoot her!

I have had her about 5 months, she appears to be young, has gorgeous young, white teeth. She has become more and more jealous of my other female terrier mix...I have 5 dogs total- all rescued or dropped off.

SHe will try to bite my Feona, growls first, recently I had to grab Maggie up to keep her from harming Feona and she bit MY leg, thinking I was Feona. I love this dog as much as all my others, but I need some speedy advice about WHAT to do to keep her from harming Feona. SHe gets along with the males and ADORES me, but hates Feona and becomes violently ill in a crate. She looks at me with eyes saying, "no one has ever loved me like you" Please help me, I want to do what will help her the most even if it means surrendering her to a family with no other pets. Please respond soon and THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Answer
Hi Eileen,

You're a kind heart! It sounds like Maggie needs some pretty intensive obedience training and discipline. When it comes to being as bad as being bitten I have to tell you that she needs more than I can advise you here. I'm sorry, but if you want to keep her (which you should!) she is going to have to get some PROFESSIONAL training. I know you love her and she loves you and this could definitely work but intervention is necessary for the safety of Feona as well as yourself! Contact the nearest canine training center and make an appointment for someone to come out to the house to evaluate her and advise you. She just didn't have the correct start, but it's definitely fixable! Thanks for loving the animals!
