ideal age for stud

Hi carol, i was wondering if you know the ideal age for a JRT to go to stud, i have been offered my dog to stud a bitch he is 4yr old? many thanks  Doug

He's at a fine age.
They can stud anytime after a year old, up until about 10
Is he a pedigree?
Is the female dog?
Champion lines?
Does the owner have reservations for pups?
I hope they aren't just breeding for the fun of it,
or worse, the money.
It's quite an injustice to the breed unless done correctly and for the right reasons. It's just concerning, because people buy cute little jack russell puppies not knowing what they are getting into and then the dog ends up in the pound/rescue because the owner can't handle the dog. As you know, Jack Russells demand lots of attention. It is a major problem in the states, I don't know too much about the situation in the UK, but just please consider the puppies.
