Question
I have a two year old male Jack Russell/ Fox Terrior..It seem every few  weeks maybe 2 months when the Shutsu in the same building I live in goes in heat.. Hes( Spike My Dog) goes  nuts..Its terrible.. Ive  keep Spike away from Hailey until the owner  tell  me shes ok ..  The question is Spike is going   crazy in my apt. tries to hump pillows  so I closes the bedroom doors. then tries jumping at me, my son ..Is there something  I could do..Or is the best solution getting him fixed.
 Thanks  Marg

Answer
Hi Marg,
The usual heat cycle for dogs is every 6 months - I've never seen a dog go into heat every few weeks. That would be horrible! I can understand your frustration because there is NO stronger instinct than a male dog trying to get to a female in heat. Yes absolutely neutering him would make a HUGE difference. If you are writing in the U.S. check out the website SPAYUSA - they provide a list of veterinarians in your area that do the procedure for a discounted rate. Best of luck!
