1st Set of Shots for Puppies

Question
I am raising my first litter of 7 adorable GD pups and called my vet to set up an appointment to take the puppies in for their 1st set of shots since they are now 6 weeks old.  The vet told me he would not touch them until they are 8 weeks old.  Is this the normal age or should I seek the advice of another vet?

Answer
The regimen depends on the vaccine being used.  You could ring another vet and ask if they do it earlier.

We used to have to wait until they were 10 weeks old because the dam imparted immunity which lasted until then.

Just keep them on the property and don't let anyone handle tyhem without washing their hands.  Place disinfectant pads outside the door if you are really worried but they sghould be alright.
