Plush coat GS

We have 1 GS and just got another one. We have been told he is a plush coat. We where also told that long hair GS don't have an under coat and plushes do. What is the difference?

Hi Elizabeth,  Plushes have a thicker coat, but don't have the really long guard hairs that a long hair has.  When you run your hand through their coat, you can feel the thickness more in the plush whereas the long haired just have long hair.  If the plush is a puppy, he might still be a long hair and the coat just hasn't come out.  That happens a lot unfortunately.  He can also carry the long coat gene which means if he is bred to another dog who carries the long coat factor, they will produce long coats.  Hope this helps,
