back legs stiffnes when getting up off the floor

hi i have a friend who is the owner of a german shepperd   who is haveing problems when she gets up off the floor the vet says its mussell wastage   but there not sure can you help

Hi Gail,  How old is the dog?  Swimming is excellent exercise for a dog that is having muscle atrophy which is what you are describing.  The water displaces their weight and makes it easier for them to exercise.  Builds back up the muscle.  You need to do small amounts at a time though to start out.
