my 13 year old german shepherd has been breathing a little haevy and what should i do or give her some medicine

Hi Ashley,   It is normal for older dogs to start breathing heavier as they age.  The best thing to do is keep her comfortable, don't let her get too hot and make sure she has plenty of water.  Sometimes they will breathe heavy because they are retaining fluid around their heart.  You can get her an x-ray to see if that may be the case.  If it is, they do have medication to help with it, so I would advise you to have a vet check her out to play it safe.  Hope this helps, and good luck.
