Question

I would like to breed my now 2 year old female?
How do i got about choosing the right stallion for her?
What day do I breed her or send her to the stallion?
How long to wait for the puppies.?
Thank You.

Answer
Usually we use the term stud or dog, stallions is more for horses.  You look for a male that has proven to be a superior dog in there area you are interested.  What is your female meant for, what does she do well?  If you are looking for a show dog, you want a male with an established winning record, and proven ability to pass his genotype on. Most of what I know about dogs comes from working with dog guides.  The school ignores breed standards, instead concentrating on intelligence and being sound, both physically and temperamentally.  Aggression, bad hips, poor house manners, etc. leads to being neutered and given away.  The studs all live in somebody's house as their personal dog.  Any behavior problems, and they never have a chance to pass them on.

Your last 2 questions tell me you have not even begun the work you need to before you begin any breeding.  Please go to www.akc.org and read what they have to say about breeding.  Read some books.  volenteer to help somebody else with a whelping.  Done right it can mean more live births, and even the survival of the mother.  Just letting it happen can mean losing puppies and even the mother.

You may find at least other expert here more helpful.  She loves dollars more than dogs.  She has been exploiting the breed and the public for years.
