10 month old White GSD

Ok, where to begin? Last week I rescued a White GSD, not sure if this has anything to do with it, A 10 month old beauty. She is very skiddish and scared of everyone but me and my children. She continually barks at my husband who tries his best to befriend her. She will get just close enough to him to take food from his hand then turn and run. She is also very scared when she hears a car,doesn't have to see it just hear it and she darts for the house. She follows me everywhere to the point that if I stood up and sat back down 300 times in a row she would do the same. I have read several different solutions but not sure which really work if any will at all. She plays with my son and me but will not open up to any one else. I am hoping that she learns to trust my husband or is she too old to ever gain that trust? Can you please give some tips or did I make a bad choice? Thanks!!!

It is hard to say.  Shepherds can be slow to adjust to new people and new homes.  I think a week is hardly long enough to tell much.  If she will take food and treats from him, that is a good side.  She may just find a man a strange, new being and not sure of one.  keep up what you are doing.  Don't let it stress you or him.  She will sense it and it will add to her problem.  Have him avoid looking her in the eye or letting his teeth show when he smiles.  Se will see either as threatening.  It might be good for him to sit on the floor with the treats and coax her to him.
