seizure

I have a 9 year old neutered male who had a seizure last night. It lasted about 2 minutes and then he was very confused and did not even know me for about a half hour. today he is very quiet just not himself. His vet ran a bunch of blood tests but i don't have the results yet. i would like some info so i can ask the right questions of his vet. thanks in advance. sheila king

Hi Sheila,  When it comes to seizures it is so hard to say what it could be.  The best thing to do is monitor his behavior, and if he has anymore seizures, monitor when he has them, how long they last, how far apart they are and how he comes out of it.  The most important thing is how far apart they are.  If the vet decides to put him on medication, they need that info to regulate the meds.  In the middle of seizures do not hold him down and make sure anything dangerous is out of his way.  Hope this helps,
