Question
QUESTION: I have a 12 week old female Boston who is afraid to eat out of the bowl?  We brought her home a week ago.  She is doing well in all other aspects-potty training etc. but since she doesn't eat from the bowl i am not sure how much to feed her?  we have her on pedigree puppy soft and kibble as that is what the breeder was feeding her

ANSWER: Hello congrats on your new puppy. Try a different kind of bowl a more shallow dull colored one perhaps or a wider mouthed one and see if that works...you can get dishes fairly cheap at dollar stores or walmart....this way you can try one or two different styles. Also get her of pedigree my Boston as eating that junk when I bought her and she ended up with allergies since I stupidly kept her on it for several months I also was using Purina one at the time as well...mixing both these are both cheap foods and cause problems in such dogs as Boston terriers. I recommend checking my website(free to look at) for the brands I recommend:
http://www.freewebs.com/dustycovens/dietfeedingfoods.htm

Look for a kibble without by products with whole meats like chicken/lamb or fish not chicken or meat by products...stear clear of foods with animal digest in them and alot of corn the ingredients should start with whole meat always....never get a kibble that starts with corn...ground yellow corn/ground rice..animal by products....this is junk in the making...by feeding a top quaility higher priced food you'll notice good coat...good appetite and a healthy puppy all over.

QUESTION: Thank you fo rthe answer, but i am still concerned about the quantity of food to feed a 12 week old puppy.

Answer
Hello, again  and your very welcome, according to the pedigree website she should be eatting 3/4 to 1 cup depending on her weight, if she were eatting a higer end food it would be less hence the price evens out anyway...again its always up to the owner....dont feed many trreats or canned food if your feeding dry a puppy needs all the good food it can get and offering bones/biscuts and canned food will make the puppy not hungry when it needs to eat its good meals for the day if you catch my drift.
