Question
At what age will my male persian, Kingston be ready to begin breeding? He is 17 weeks at this time and I know he not even interested at this time but at what age will he be?

~RHI~

Answer
Around 6 months. It sound to me that you are attempting to breed as a hobby and frankly I do not recommend it. If you are giving your kitten to stud to a professional breeder that is one thing but if you are thinking are just tinkering with breeding, I suggest you reconsider. It is not just some simple thing. You need to be prepared to help deliver pregnancies, to raise the kittens because if you just leave it to mom they won't be as well socialized pets, and your male if left intact will likely spray around the house to mark territory. These are just a few little things but there is an awful lot to learn besides when he will be ready and you really need to learn it from a professional breeder and reading. And even then, please realize that breeding is not a hobby and really should be left to professional only.
