Mother cat attacking babies and all !!!

Question
Hi Barb,
I'm Keisha I have a HUGE problem. I have a siamese cat called Lala she is about 1yr and 7 months. She had babies January this year unfortunately i was away on holiday overseas and left her with a friend who has many pets including 2 other cats and 2 dogs so i knew because of her love for animals she would be alright to look after my Lala. Anyway before we went on holiday i was telling my mum how her tummy seems to be getting bigger i thought she was pregnant because she was always out of the house and was not yet desexed. When i arrived back about 8 weeks later i was told she had 3 kittens but one had to be put down becuase it was missing the roof of its mouth and she had a lot of trouble delivering the babies because she was not yet 1. the other 2 survived Pogi and Tia and live with us they are now 10 mnths. As they grew older they still drank from their mother at about 6-7 mnths i dont really remember i thought that it was not good for Lala to allow the babies to drink milk anymore so i tried to stop the babies from drinking her milk and was successful she had a huge connection with her little boy Pogi and seemed to forget about her daughter Tia. After they stopped drinking her bahaviour began to change to a more and more aggressive cat she looks at her babies and pounces at them and scratches them i dont know if she bites them but the babies don't fight back their so sweet. i can tell when she is about to attack because her ears go down and she looks at them with the evil eye but when i say "Lala STOP dont be naughty" she listens. when she is behind them she will smell their bottom and pounce on them. she is also very aggressive to me she has bitten and scratched me so many times and on my face so i was VERY angry about that. she hardly lets me pat her only when she wants something most often food. Can you please help me i love my kitties so much?

Answer
Hi Keisha

If you have not had the mother cat spayed yet, that is the first thing you need to do.  She needs a check up too to be sure everything inside her is ok since she had her kittens.  Also, the kittens need to be spayed and neutered.  That alone might solve all the problems they have.  They make so much better pets when they have been desexed.  If you have done this already, then I am at a loss to know why the mother cat is being so mean.  Write again if you think I can help further.

Hugs,
Barb
