Question
Hello Jessica, I have a male cat and he's about 6 yrs. old. We have had since he was 6 months. A couple months ago we got new carpet in all of the house. Before my cat NEVER threw up, maybe once or twice a YEAR! Now after the new carpet he has been throwing NONSTOP!!!!! I mean he throws up AT LEAST twice a week!!!You can understand how much this is getting out of hand with the carpet. Around the same time the carpet was getting installed, we got him the wrong cat food. We thought that he was throwing up because of that but it's been a couple months now!!! Some of the throw up is just liqid and sometimes it's a hairball. Why is he doing this? PLEASE get back ASAP!!!!! Thanks!!!!! Have a great day, Miranda :)

Answer
Hi Miranda.  He might have a hairball too large to pass.  He might have developed food intolerances.  He may have parasitic worms or protozoa that are causing stomach upset.  Illnesses like kidney and failure, high thyroid and diabetes can also cause vomiting.  There's also an illness called Inflammatory Bowel Disease, which can cause chronic vomiting.  With all these possibilities, it's really best to get him to the vet for a proper diagnosis.
