Question
Hi,
I believe my 2 week old kitten are anemic. I checked them and they have white gums and are not very active. One is not really moving at all. I am afriad that one will not make it through the night and I need to know what to do. I do not have a way to get them to a vet tonight so any information with be a help please. Also, how do you treat aniema if you can. I am a new cat owner. Please help.          Thank you

Answer
Brittany,

I am not a veterinarian, but are they getting enough of mama's milk? If you are not sure they are thriving, the first order of business is a visit to your vet! You may have to supplement the kitten's diet by either bottle feeding (preferable) or tube feeding. If you need to do either, I can give you some guidelines as to amounts and what to feed.

If they are getting enough to eat, they should be plumpish and you should not be able to feel their ribs or backbones.

Please let me know what you find.

Concerned regards... Norm.
