CAT meowing excessively

my cat (leo) keeps meowing excessively.  He used to have a companion who died, since this time leo often goes out at night meowing/calling- I do not want to get another cat + If I did this would obviosly not replace the cat died.  Leo has been seen by a vet an d is in good health + what can I do to prevent this.  It is upsetting to hear him calling all the time + I cannot get a good nights sleep!

You have not told me how long ago the other cat died.

Cats do suffer separation anxiety and cats do mourn.  Usually this does not last more than a few months.  I expect Leo is looking for his lost friend.

Does Leo like to sleep with you?  If so, are you letting him?  Leo needs some companionship at night.

Thus, Leo will either stop his "crying" on his own, or you can get another companion for Leo, or you can try to fill that nitch in Leo's life.
