cats flip food dish over

Question
Why do my cats flip over their food dish so they can't eat the food? I vary their diet with canned and dry food. They seem hungry and yet they flip the food dish so that it covers their food and they can't reach it. They seem happy, healthy, curious, affectionate, and occasionally naughty like most cats.

I wish I could give you a definitive answer on this!!!!!  We use 6 inch paper plates to feed and they seem to not be able to flip these very easily until they are finished.

Often when cats are done eating their fill for the time being, they will bury their food, so this may result in them inadvertently flipping the dish.
