Cat attacking tail

Question
My cat keeps attacking her tail. She is constantly hissing and growling at it. I have checked her tail and have found no pests. However I have found many scabs that she has inflicted upon herself. She has had this problem for 7 weeks now. She is both an indoors and outdoors cat. She is not spayed, but has had 3 miscarriages, no litters. She is 2 years old.

Answer
Hi Naomi, I would guess that your cat has some kind of hormonal imbalance that has caused her skin to be very itchy and probably also caused her miscarriages. I would suggest you get her spayed asap. A cat that is not bred is prone to uterine problems and see if the spaying corrects this current problem at the same time ! Teresa
