my cat is excessively salivating

My cats are excessively salivating and creating puddles of drool. Their tongues are hanging out and they are very lethargic.

We adopted a kitten from the humane society a couple of weeks ago and he had an upper respiratory infection. Is excessive salivation a symptom?

This does not sound good, to me.  I would get them to a vet right away to see what is going on.  It is not clear from your question, but it may be that the humane society cat has given whatever it had to your established cats.  Either way I would have the upper respiratory and the teeth and gums checked.
