MISSING CAT

Question
4 nights ago my cat fell from my balcony she is an indoor cat approx 1 year old which i rescued, she sat at the bottom meowing i calmly went down to not scare her away however the moment she heard the bin shed gat open she ran off to some nearby bushes i went down to ensure food and water was available to her and have been feeding her every day in the same place i have seen her 4 times since once again eating from the bowl and meowing and as soon as she noticed i was there (i was jus sat quietly) she ran off. she seems to have ventured further with a tom cat which i witnessed yesterday, in a panic and crying i called a friend who came to help and she arranged for me to borrow a humane cat trap its been placed close to the bush she has been seen in and i have baited it with some mackerel. I am so scared for her safety as all of my neighbours gardens are overgrown and have around 4 foxes who use live amongst the blackberry bushes. We have cleared a small portion of the garden jus so we can get a clearer view etc but i dont know what else i can do. I havent seen her at all today and i am missin her dearly i suffer with depression and my cat Sox has always cheered me up. Please help
I have seen her around 9pm and has been confirmed that the tom cat in question is chasing after her and fighting i am unaware if this is playful or not as she is runnin away meowing rather loudly as if she is tryin to get help. i have jus brought the humane trap in as its dark and there are a large amount of foxes which could get trapped in there along with other wildlife and i wouldnt want to stress them out but i dont know what else i can do everytime i have seen her she is gradually further away :-( please help

Answer
Sonya,

You are doing everything correctly.  What you need to remember is that you must not approach your cat, unless she approaches you.  She is out in the wild, unsure, and very tentative.  The live trap is the best approach, but you need lots of patience. I do not believe there is any more you can do, beyond what you are doing.

Cats tend to stay close to their home territory, but are incredibly good at hiding in plain sight.  Let's hope she ventures into the trap and avoids the foxes.

Please let me know how it goes.

Hopeful regards... Norm.
