cat & dirarrhea

I have a 17 year old cat. He has had diarrhea for about 2 1/2 weeks now. Should I have him put down?

Absolutely not.  You need to find out why he is having diarrhea first.  Change in diet or stress can account for diarrhea, as well as many other medical conditions.  Though your cat is definitely a senior citizen I wouldn't give up on him just yet.  Take him to your vet and have them run blood work at least.  That will tell them if he is developing issues with his liver, kidneys, or other organs.  At the very least they should be able to give him some fluids to help perk him up as he is most likely dehydrated from losing so many fluids.  I hope he gets better.
