Question
Heres my  question sometime earlier this month or near the end of last month we took my kitty to the vet to get her checked out our last visit the vet said cats are very good at masking how they feel but this time  she had really obvious signs something wasnt right she had a runny nose and horking sort of and we got her treated for what i believed was a respitory illness which was only in her nose which was a relief the vet siad she must have caught the virus from one of us going to a friends house who has pets or from going out side my cats an indoor cat so she never goes out side  she took 12 pills for 12 days and seemed to be getting better but Im fearful because shes starting to get stuffed up again the vet also said it can take around a month for this virus to clear up should I have her checked up again because Im tramatized from my last cat having to be put down because he was very sick and was basically dying before my eyes what should I do?

Answer
Yes, yes, please take her in again. But try not to worry so much. I understand how traumatized you are but upper respiratory infections that are being TREATED are not usually going to be that dangerous. Your vet is right, sometimes it takes a while and you need a second round of antibiotics or a different antibiotic -- she may have picked up a diffrent bug while her system was weakened from the effects of the first one.

If she is eating normally it is probably not an emergency, call today and try to get her in in the next 2-3 days. Or maybe they will just give you a prescription without seeing her. It depends how long it has been since the last appointment.

Hope this helps
