rice-like things around my cats anus

Question
Hi! My sister and I have found in the last couple of days some slimy white things around (and coming out of) the anus of our otherwise very healthy and happy 2 year-old cat . They are about the size of rice, and are a bit elastic, but not too much. We didn't find anything in his stools, though. Is it dangerous? Are those maybe some common cat parasites? How are they treated?
Thanks in advance!

Answer
These are definitely tapeworms.  They do not do immediate damage but, as true with any other parasite, are not good to have inside you.

To treat them you need a wormer with praziquantal in it.  I used something called Cestex with my cat Maestro when he had tapes.  You can get this at your vets office.  Never buy wormer at a petstore or any other store.  This has proven to be irresponsible and dangerous.

I hope your sweet baby gets treated soon!
