Intergrating cat and kitten

Question
I have an 18 month old female Lilac point Siamese cat and have just adopted a 15 week old Seal point Siamese cat.  We have had the kitten for 1 month.  Initially, we kept the cats seperate after about 1 week we brought the kitten in a cat carrier to the main living area, after that we wedged the kitten's door, finally we introduced about 8 days ago.  we have then together supervised as the 18 month old runs her back into her room.  It happens all the time.  Also the 18 month old has taken to biting us when we stroke her.  We are aware at all times we are asking a lot of our 18 month old.  We have sep litters large ones, plenty of toys, sep food and water and we spend time trying toplay with them.  we don't know what else we can do to try and help intergrate them.  Could you help please.  Thank so much.

Answer
Hi Susan!
It just so happens that I have also recently brought home a new kitten!  My adult Siamese is 1 year old and I brought home an 8 week old.  What you are doing is probably the best way to introduce two cats.  You should be able to just let them get to know each other now.  I put mine together right off the bat, but of course I supervised them.  My adult male acted all bent out of shape and growled and hissed as if he was going to really attack the kitten, but he never did.  The kitten was oblivious to him, playing and ignoring him....LOL.  Siamese are quite different from other cats and can actually have their feelings hurt, so you need to give your adult cat plenty of extra love.  I think the nipping is just a way of showing her displeaure and will go away.  I would firmly say NO when she does that and tap her on the nose.  I really think they will be fine.  Yes, there will be some hissing and growling but as time goes by they will adjust. If you think your adult will be too rough with the new kitty, then keep a close eye on them at first. The chasing is all part of the "game".  Mine did that too. Separating them too long is not a good idea because they are eventually going to have to "deal" with the situation.  If your cats end up like mine, they will be blissfully happy.  Mine groom each other and sleep together.  It didn't take long, maybe a week.  Some may take longer to adjust, but my adult male gave in pretty quickly.  I hope that happens for you too!
God Bless!
