My cat spot died december 2nd he was 18 years old.  I have another cat Tigger.  They were very close.  Tigger is very sad; she is still looking for him to come back.  How do I help her understand Spot is not coming back.

Helping her understand is not likely. Helping her get passed it is what you really need to do. She can't really understand but she can get over it in time. She will eventually stop looking for him to come back on her own but you can help by giving her extra attention and playtime with you. Its sort of a distraction technique and unfortunately until our pets learn to talk, its the best you can do. Give her time and give her extra attention.
