Bringing a puppy into a house with two young femal cats.

Question
Hello Ma'am,
I am planning on getting a 9 week old Chihuahua/terrior mix. We currently have two, non-purebred, young female cats, somewhere around 8 or 9 months old. My question is if you know of any easy ways to get them accustomed to each other? I understand that they may not like having a new puppy around, but they can get used to it sooner or later. What problems am I likely to come across? Any advice you can give would be extremely helpful. Thank you.
    Eric.

Answer
There isnt really any advice I can give you except to let them work it out on their own.  It really depends on the cats personality whether or not they like dogs.  Just give it time and you will find out if the cats can handle having a dog around.  I have never had a big problem with cats and dogs coexisting.  Chances are they won`t even mind the new puppy and since it will be small when you get it, there will be an even bigger chance of the cats liking the dog since it will not be threatening.
