The breed off my year and half old cat

Question
Hello,
As this is the site for asking this I'll go right ahead.

My cat is a very beautiful long haired cat with bronze highlights, mixed with Grey and black fur. She has a fluffy tail and is regularly very proud. I will include a link below.

Now we are arguing if she is a Maine Coon, Siberian, or Norwegian Forest cat. she matches all these breeds.

If anyone has an answer, I'd be much obliged.

Answer
Charlotte,

I looked at the picture and, indeed, she has forest cat in her background.  She is a Brown tabby longhair.  Beyond that, the picture is not terribly helpful.

The best way to compare the three breeds:

Maine Coon has a squarish muzzle, slightly longer than it is broad.  It has an oblong shaped head when looked at from above, again, slightly longer than it is broad.  There is a strong longer neck and a rectangular body and stance.  The eyes are set obliquely and tend to be wide oval shaped.  The ears are not flared and set one ear width apart.  The coat is heavy and shaggy (i.e. shorter on the shoulders getting longer as you go down and towards the back of the cat) with a full frontal ruff and britches.

Norwegian Forest Cats have a broad triangular shaped head where the muzzle continues the triangle.  The ears are set rather wide apart and turned to the outside a bit.  The eyes are a rounded almond shape and follow the slant of the triangular shaped head.  The neck is very short and thick.  The Body is rather boxy with much depth of flank.  The coat is a heavy double coat (i.e. roughly the same length and density everywhere), with a full frontal ruff, mutton chops and britches.

The Siberian is midway in between the Maine Coon and Norwegian Forest Cat in structure with a coat more like a Norwegian than a Maine Coon.

So by comparing your cat's structure to the above descriptions, you should be able to get some idea of what breed she is most like.

I hope this helps.

Best regards... Norm.
