Question
We are looking to adopt a kitten for my daughter.  My cousins cat had kittens who will be 4 weeks old.  Is this too early to take away from its mommy?

Answer
Hi Pam, I am glad you wrote to us! YES< that is WAY too young to separate a kitten from it's mother and littermate. Ideally I would say leave the kittens with their mom until they are at least 8 weeks. People always want to separate them early so they can get them homes and get them gone but these end up being the kittens that are not social with other cats or strangers and the type of cat that will suck on sweaters or their owners. If you leave the kitten there as long as possible you will have a better chance of getting a nice confident kitten.
