QuestionI lived with him in an apt. until 3 yrs ago(bought a house). He is not an outside cat. He is "spraying" my door a lot. And anywhere else he can getaway with it. What can I do? He of course is a male.
AnswerHi Victor.
If he is not fixed get him fixed. There are two reasons for his spraying. One is that there were cats in the house before. He is marking over their scents. The second reason is that he sees or hears or smells "strangers and intruders" outside.
To take care of whichever the reason you need to get a good enzymatic cleaner made to clean cat urine. Use it wherever he has been spraying. It will remove any scent of the urine so he won't go back and mark it again. Get something called Feliway. This will help him adjust and stop his spraying. Make sure that he can't see any cat outside. And if there are strays around, place mothballs outside. This keeps them away. Try these tips and see how he is. Write back and let me know how it goes. Good luck.
