Question
QUESTION: Our Kitty gave birth yesterday at 6pm to a kitten that had no hair on his legs or ears.He didn't start breathing on his own,we tried to help but our attempts failed.I called a vet from out of town, and she said the kitten could have been dead for awhile, before birth. We have waited all night and it's now 6am,and no more labor pains or kittens. She is still big so I have no doubt she has more in her.She is not acting in pain,or leaking anything at all.The only vet around here is a cow vet,and he said-wait and see what happens. Not much help from him.I do not have alot of money, but I need to figure out what to do.She was a cat that someone dropped off here a couple of months ago.The kitten she had seemed kinda small, and had hair on about 75-80% of its body.Any suggestions?

ANSWER: Hi Bunny, can you feel any movement in her?? Spend some time today with your hand resting on her side and then let me know if you get kicked or if you can feel any live kittens in her.. and then get back to me.. ook?? teresa

QUESTION: Hi Teresa,we can feel kittens moving and she feels fine. The vet said if she is eating and drinking we should let it ride and see what happens. She is not in pain or anything and she is eating, drinking and pottying jut fine. She has been extra slepy though, but so was I when I was pregnant!Any advice? Thanks,Bunny

Answer
Hi Bunny, thanks for getting back to me. Of course it is always best if you can get a vet to look at her and get an ultrasound done etc etc...But since that is not an option then I will give you my personal opinion to try to help you out.
I would leave her be. If she is eating and drinking and everything is fine.. then chances are 95% that she is just fine!! It is rare, but a cat can pass a dead kitten and continue on with a normal pregnancy. If you can feel the kittens moving that is a really good sign! Just really keep a close eye on mom. As soon as she stops eating that is a sign of trouble...
If she is sleeping a lot that is fine as long as she doesn't have a fever .. but if her bowel movements are ok and she is eating.. she probably doesn't have a fever so I would say at this point.. you have NOTHING to worry about.
Please let me know how things progress with her. This is an interesting case and I would like to know how things turn out with her ! Teresa
