cat herpes

Question
Hi
Can you help me or do I need to ask a vet about this?  We bought a 10 mo ragdoll in Jan.  When we picked him up the breeder gave me some ointment for his eyes saying he had conjunctivitis.  I had him to the vets and he said nothing about the ointment.  His eyes were pretty good but always had a little seepage (sp)  They got worse with crusty black and then 6 weeks ago I noticed a tiny black on his nose.  I took him to another vet and she suspects herpes.  He has gingivitis.  We put him on an antibiotic for 2 wks with no results.  SO we have had him for 5 mo. - do we have any recourse against the breeder?

Answer
Kathy,

Depending on the sales contract you may or may not have signed with the breeder, you may or may not have any recourse.  The discouraging thing is that even with a contract, some judges will not hear any contractual case involving buying a cat or dog.

You can try small claims court, but, truth be told, there is not much recourse you have that will actually recompense you for your money and time!!!!!

Sad regards... Norm.
