Question
hello,

i'm facing a serious problem with my cat and i need a very quick help and advice please :(
i'm raising a 5-months male persian cat..
i've got it from a freind before 7 weeks where he was living with his family
his mom & dad and other kittens... there were about 8 cats in his environment
and today i decided to get and raise his mother with him..
i did it.. but the big surprize for me was that he didn't recognise his mother :(
when he saw her he get scared to death..
i havn't said  that i guess he has some phsicological problem, may be from a bad expreince
i've heard that his father was hurting him all the time but i'm not sure if this was true or not
when i take him any were to a vet or in my house-garden he didn't go along with any other cats or even little kittens
i thought it might me normal but when i saw the other kittens enjoy the company of other cats i realised that he has a problem

so my questions now:
1- how can i help him to get over his fears?
2- what is the best way to make him familare with his mother? i was putting them in one room but when i saw his that much scared i took her out? should i put them together again?
3- the mother is pregnant and so so so quite and nice, but could any one of them be a dangor for the other?

kind regards,
sara

Answer
I don't think your kitten has a psychologicial problem. He is just in a strange new place now and he doesn't recognize his mother (very normal, cats aren't too big in the memory department) so he is afraid of her because it is her turf and she is bigger. The key to introducing cats you want to live together is patience and small doses. Don't force them to interact. Make sure each one has a space they can consider their own and their own litter box. Try a toy to get them to play and see how they react to each other in that context. Don't push it, though. . . give it time. It will probably take 7 to 10 days before the kitten relaxes and settles down.

Hope this helps
