my cat is nearly 12months old and ive noticed that when i stroke my cat i can feel its ribs and all other bones it doesnt look skinny as it has a thick coat my cat is a cross breed tabby and quite small it doesnt seem to eat alot nowadays. do you think i should take it to the vets to see if its nornal weight. because a few months ago i couldnt feel its bones when stroking it. i have not had it spayed yet. it is also an indoor catthanks for any advice you can offer.

Hi Sam.  Odds are that your kitty is just on the thin side.  If you're really concerned, then by all means take your kitty to the vet.  A quick visit to the doctor can be most reassuring.  You mention that your little girl hasn't been spayed yet.  That's something you should most definitely do.  It will help to prevent so many things, not to mention unwanted medical complications when she's older, as well as the unwanted kitten thing.  That's a big deal.

If she STILL isn't eating a lot... I'd suggest a tablespoon or so of wet food maybe at dinnertime.  Just as a treat, mind you.  You don't want to feed your cat milk, because most cats are lactose intollerant and that can make them sicker.  A small can of wet food can go a long way when you feed about a 1/4 of a can per day.  SO... probably the best thing to do is to try wet food for a few days.  If that doesn't seem to do the trick, then a visit to the doctor will probably be in order.
