Question
QUESTION: hello i got a cat 4 weeks ago, she is now 10 weeks old and im not sure when she comes into season. When is the earliest time a cat can come into season?   Thanks

ANSWER: Hello Latisha,

Heat cycles rely on many different things and each cat is different.  Seasons, amount of sunlight in the day as well as age all play a part but in general terms a kitten can go into heat as soon as 4 months of age or as late as 2 years but on average usually around 6-7 months old.

QUESTION: Hello its latisha again, i was wandering my cat is now 11 weeks old and im not sure when to let her out on her own on the streets. What age do cats usually go out on their own... Thanks

Answer
The answer to this should be never.  The average lifespan for a cat that goes outside is three years.  They get hit by cars, attacked by dogs and other cats, tortured by humans and last but not least they can catch all sorts of virus'.  The tops killer of cats right now is feline aids and leukemia, the only way these can be caught is by meeting another cat that is infected outdoors.
