Question
QUESTION: Could you possibly tell me the breed of my cat? She is female and has short fur, she has a shorter tail an shorter face as most cats. Her fur at the end of her ears sticks up and she is kind of small for an average cat. I have a picture on image hosting, sorry for the bad quality, hope it helps.

ANSWER: Scott,

I really cannot tell anything from the picture. It is dark and does not show enough of the cat.  It appears to be a normal black and white domestic shorthair with what is called a "van" pattern, i.e. the color is confined to the top of the head and the tail and, maybe a couple of spots on the body.

The fur at the end of the ears sticking up are called lynx tips and the genes producing this are known to be in the feral cat population at large.

I hope this is what you are after.

or going to your public library and looking at books on cats.

QUESTION: Norm,
Thank you for you help and i am sorry for the bad quality but she has ginger spots in her too not just black and white, the picture is mostly her leg too (the way she is lays is strange) which is all white, her body is very much varied in colour.

Answer
Scott,

OK, you are correct, she is not a black and white.  What she is is a Van Calico in color and pattern, however, many breeds come in this color and pattern.  So, I would classify her as a Van Calico Domestic Shorthair.
