Question
I have a couple outside cats and a few inside cats. My outside cat has been pregnant for a while and had her babies a few days ago, yesterday i went outside and my inside male cat got out and picked up one of her babies in his mouth and ran into a cornfeild with it, then a couple minutes later he came back out and we couldnt find the baby. do you think he killed it because he felt threatened or just dropped it out there and came back?

Answer
Shannon,

I would say he dropped it.

Sometimes it is hard to say what actually goes through a cat's mind when he acts in a bazaar manner. With some behavior, there isn't a logical reason or a "text-book" answer, only the cat knows why he did it.

I have had pregnant and non-pregnant female cats run off with another's kittens, but a male domesticated cat doing that is rare.
